One of the business opportunities of Romanian industry can be considerred also an investment in AUTO-industry, taking in consideration the location, labor costs and qualified employees.

 

AUTO-industry together with IT&C and food industry, is considerred on of the 3 main engines of the Romanian economy.

 

The turnover of the AUTO-industry sector was approx. 18 bln. Euro in 2014, of which 12.6 bln. Euro in parts manufacturing and it is estimated that until 2025 the turnover of the Romanian AUTO-industry will increase and will reach 20 bln. EUR from 18 bln. EUR in 2014.

 

The Romanian AUTO-industry is represented by 600 companies and 200 000 employees.

 

In total, the exports of auto-industry represents 20% of the total exports of Romania, also represents 12% of Romanian GDP and the labor costs are the lowest from EU, 4.9EUR/h.

 

Although Renault and Ford have car factories in Romania (Renault in Pitesti and Ford in Craiova) 70% of the entire turnover of the AUTO-industry is covered by the auto parts companies.

 

The auto-parts factories turnover represents 12.6 bil. EUR from the total of 18 billion EUR of the entire AUTO-industry.

 

A car can be manufactured entirely only with parts manufactured in auto-parts factories from Romania as you may see below.

 

The German company KIRCHOFF makes the car body in the factory from Craiova.

 

INTEVA, from US, are making the car roof in their factory from Salonta.

 

FORD and RENAULT have also a division for manufacturing the engines.

 

DRAEXLMAIER from Germany have a factory for car dashboards in Codlea near Brasov.

 

The steering wheel and safety belts are manufactured in the factory from Sfantul Gheorghe owned by the Swedish company, AUTOLIV.

 

Airbags are produced by TRW AUTOMOTIVE.

 

LEAR CORPORATION are making the seats of the car in their factory located near Iasi.

 

For cables there are 3 companies from auto industry, YAZAKI from Japan with a factory in Caracal, also another company from Japan, SUMITOMO is located in Orastie and a factory of the German company LEONI is located in Arad.

 

The gearbox are produced in Sebes in a factory owned by the German company, DAIMLER, where they've invested 300mln EUR.

 

The German company BOSCH has a factory in the industrial park from Jucu near Cluj where they are making the electronic parts of a car.

 

For tires, there are 3 “giants” present in Romania with their own factories and these are Continental, Pirelli and Michelin.

 

The US company from auto-industry, FEDERAL MOGUL, are making the brake plates in their factory from Ploiesti.
